The attorney began our session with asking, “why did your mom do this?” And all I could say was that DW got in her ear. And she attempted to console me by saying no matter what I did or say I couldn’t compete against DW’s daily indoctrination.

The stunning truth was that Māmā grew not to trust me. She trusts a niece whom she hasn’t seen since VL was losing her canines than her daughter. That’s just an additional gut punch to having my hands completely tied from helping Daniel.

But perhaps the most difficult thing to reconcile was that I must make peace with Māmā ‘s choice and accept that this was her assets to do as she pleased. It’s just devastating and unfortunate that Daniel is the collateral damage of DW’s greed.

I sent DW a final letter after my consultation with my attorney to say that I am going to honor Māmā ‘s last wishes and trusts her, AW, & VL as Māmā did. Māmā trusted them with everything which includes taking care of Daniel.

And I have to learn to just let it all go.
